Educational Toys for Preschool Kids

Educational toys for preschool kids do not need to be fancy or elaborate or expensive. They should be fun and entertaining and provide the opportunity to learn needed skills. There are so many options, ranging from counting toys to the best train sets for toddlers. Here are some of my favourites and why: For more information click here.  best baby toys for 1 year old & toys for 4 year old boys

1.     Shape sorters are fine learning toys for toddlers. Why? Toddlers have fun placing shapes into the matching holes and celebrating their success. They are using fine motor control, eye hand coordination and problem solving.
2.     Pegs and pegboards for toddlers combine practicing fine motor skills with early math concepts of matching, sorting, sequencing and counting.
3.     Construction sets of all kinds are super educational toys for preschool children. Toddler sets such as nuts and bolts, with wheels and cross pieces let the child create and build whatever she imagines. Why are these toys so great? Kids need to use their fine motor skills to twist and turn pieces; they use early math skills to match and sort; they are using their imagination to design a creation; they need to plan and experiment; kids will concentrate and persevere. They are learning basic engineering and building skills.
4.     I would consider some of the best train sets for toddlersas a construction toy. Wooden train sets with track pieces that need to be put together are a superb challenge for planning skills, and trial and error. For more information click here. best preschool toys
5.     Toys for pretend play, whether they are dress up clothes, play kitchens or child sized cleaning sets are excellent learning toys for toddlers. They help kids explore social roles and make sense of their world. Pretend play with other children encourages cooperation and sharing.
6.     Counting toys such as colorful plastic bears with matching sorting cups help young kids learn simple math skills such as sorting by color, counting and one to one correspondence. The primary colors encourage color recognition.
7.     Alphabet blocks are a classic learning toy for toddlers. Piling blocks and knocking them down teaches kids about gravity, balance and cause and effect. Letters on the blocks help with letter recognition. For more information click here. toys for 1 year old boys & best educational toys for 3 year olds
8.     Large colorful stringing beads are another learning toy for toddlers that encourages fine motor skills, early math skills and color recognition. For more information click here. educational toys for 2 year olds & building toys for toddlers

Pegboard and Pegs

Are you searching for the perfect gift for a toddler or preschooler? If you want to make a big hit with both the child and parents, consider an educational toy such as a jumbo sized pegboard and pegs . This toy is standard in most educational settings and until I studied early childhood development I didn’t understand why. To me it seemed like a mundane toy and not very fun or exciting. There are no flashing lights or sounds and no cartoon characters, but what a pegboard with pegs has is an opportunity to challenge a child in his development. Toddlers show such enthusiasm when they successfully place all the shapes in the sorting box or make a block tower without it toppling. This is the stage when kids are learning to count and are acquiring basic math skills, such as knowing that the number one, means one item. These are simple ideas to an adult but are the foundation for future understanding of more complex ideas.
