Educational toys for preschool kids do not need to be fancy or elaborate or expensive. They should be fun and entertaining and provide the opportunity to learn needed skills. 1.     Shape sorters are fine learning toys for toddlers. Why? Toddlers have fun placing shapes into the matching holes and celebrating their success. They are using fine motor control, eye hand coordination and problem solving.
2.     Pegs and pegboards for toddlers combine practicing fine motor skills with early math concepts of matching, sorting, sequencing and counting.
3.     Construction sets of all kinds are super educational toys for preschool children. Toddler sets such as nuts and bolts, with wheels and cross pieces let the child create and build whatever she imagines. Why are these toys so great? Kids need to use their fine motor skills to twist and turn pieces; they use early math skills to match and sort; they are using their imagination to design a creation; they need to plan and experiment; kids will concentrate and persevere. They are learning basic engineering and building skills.

6.     Counting toys such as colorful plastic bears with matching sorting cups help young kids learn simple math skills such as sorting by color, counting and one to one correspondence. The primary colors encourage color recognition.
7.     Alphabet blocks are a classic learning toy for toddlers. Piling blocks and knocking them down teaches kids about gravity, balance and cause and effect.
