What are Educational Toys for Toddlers?

Toys that are developed to teach particular skills or concepts are called educational toys. Most toys provide some type of learning opportunity; stuffed animals may encourage nurturing skills or pretend play. Transformer toys are good for fine motor skills. However in my opinion educational toys are directly focussed on enhancing particular cognitive, social and motor skills. Educational toys for toddlers concentrate on fine and gross motor, early math concepts, vocabulary, and color and letter recognition. They may also contribute to cooperative play and social interactions. A toy may be introduced to practice one particular skill such as a Montessori toy that provides repetition in using a zipper or can enhance multiple skills such as a pegboard set that teaches simple math concepts, fine motor skills and color recognition. A very early educational toy is wooden alphabet blocks ; they were produced to teach letters to children and are still popular today. Like most toys, t

Searching for a Special Toy for 3 Year Olds?

Are you looking for that special toys for 3 year old boys ? Perhaps it’s for his birthday or Christmas or just because. For open ended imaginative and creative play I always like to recommend construction sets for preschoolers . And for something really special why not consider the Create O Flakes Building toy? Here are 7 reasons why I particularly recommend this toy: 1.      The variety of plastic snow shape flakes encourages kids to build something unique. There are no instructions and the shapes are so very different from other types of construction sets for preschoolers . They challenge kids to think in different ways. 2.      The set can also be used in craft projects; kids can have fun creating necklaces, chains or mobiles. 3.      The flakes are super for early math skills such as counting, sorting, matching and patterns. 4.      This is a great toy for 3 year olds , but it is also a toy that keeps on giving.  It will be used in a simple way by 3 year olds and wil

Learning Colors with Educational Toys for Preschoolers

When I was a preschool teacher long ago I would help the little ones learn colors by having a celebration day. For instance one day we would celebrate the color red and everything in the playschool would be that color. There would be red play dough, different shades of red at the paint easel, red counting toys and red water in the water table. Snack would be juicy red watermelon. We would have red stories and songs, and we would play “I spy with my little eye something that is (you guessed it!) Red”!!! The children and I would be wearing red. You get the idea… One day I was dressed head to toe in yellow. A father was dropping off his child and I asked him if he knew what we were celebrating today; he looked me up and down and seriously said, “Banana Day?” I think I enjoyed the planning and the hoopla more than the children and I don’t know if this extravaganza really had any major impact on learning colors . Children learn their colors through every day activities. Dad points out

I Love Toddlers ; Toys for Toddlers

I love toddlers. Toddlers have passed infancy but are still preschool age. They are aware of their world and are exploring everything. They are tenacious – they walk and stumble, then laugh or cry and go at it one more time.Toddlers start to imitate adults in their life; they may be using child sized mops and brooms to be like their parents. They are practicing fine motor skills by piling blocks and using large wooden puzzles and shape sorters. They may be trying to use child safety scissors. Everything is new and novel and exciting. I once took my toddler to a fireworks display and was disappointed when he wasn’t particularlyenthralled. My friend pointed out that everything is a fireworks display at that age. So how can we support this amazing age of discovery? What are the best toys for 1 year old ? Which toys will help develop fine motor skills for toddlers ? Some of the best toys for one year olds will be enjoyed right up to preschool age and beyond. They are great for fine
